We recently received news that Clerkenwell Design Week has been postponed until July, and that’s the latest in a line of cancelled conferences and exhibitions for architects and landscapers. It’s very important that we all recognise the advice provided by the Government, but, of course, these unusual times present everybody with challenges.

We know that many architects, landscapers and design professionals rely on the industry calendar of events to fulfil their CPD points for RIBA or CIAT membership. It’s important to remember that many of your points can come from self-directed learning, and there’s much that you can do from your home office. As a rule of thumb, one hour of learning = one hour of points, and this can be for reading magazines such as the RibaJ or AJ, reading the latest books or using online learning materials.

Millboard recently launched The Outdoor Design Hub to cater to online learning. This Hub of educational materials is free and provides a single source for desktop learning, covering a broad range of useful and up-do-date information related to the world of outdoor design. Visitors can browse for inspiration, catch up on the latest regulatory news and pick up CPD points from the comfort of their desks. The Hub currently contains over forty pieces of learning-focused content, including videos, PDFs, handy guides, mood-boards and FAQs. The Hub supports the design of outside spaces from a creative and technical perspective, and it is regularly updated to keep abreast of design trends, legal framework updates and items of topical interest.

So if you need to revise your CPD plans for the spring, visiting Millboard’s Design Hub could be the solution that you are looking for. We hope that you find it useful and welcome any feedback that you might have. We’d also welcome suggestions for what you might find most useful – send us your ideas and we’ll put our expert team on to it at the earliest!
